In the heart of Kyoto, Japan, nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes and serene ambiance, lies the iconic Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine, a place of profound spiritual significance and natural beauty. It was amidst these hallowed grounds that the seeds of inspiration for my candle company, TAISHA, were sown.

My journey began with a visit to Fushimi Inari Taisha, where the vivid vermilion torii gates wind their way through the forested hillside, creating an ethereal path that captures the imagination. As I wandered beneath these striking gates, I was enveloped by the subtle, enchanting scents of cedar and the tranquility of the surroundings. It was a sensory experience like no other, and it left an indelible mark on my heart.

The idea for TAISHA was born from a desire to capture the essence of this remarkable place and share it with the world. I wanted to create more than just toxic free & safe burning candles; I aimed to craft aromatic works of art that would transport people to the serene landscapes and cultural richness of Japan.

Our candles are a labor of love, each hand-poured in small batches with meticulous attention to detail. Just as the Fushimi Inari shrine is a symbol of devotion and tradition, our candles are made with care and reverence. The scents we carefully curate are inspired by the rich tapestry of Japanese culture, from the delicate cherry blossoms of spring to the warm, comforting embrace of traditional tea ceremonies.

Our candle wax is derived from non-GMO soybeans grown in the United States. Our plant-based blend is vegan and, most importantly, never subjected to animal testing.

We are committed to purity and transparency in our candle production process. That's why we make a conscious choice to avoid the use of any dyes in our wax. This decision is rooted in our dedication to delivering a natural and toxin-free candle experience that you can feel good about.

We incorporate natural wooden wicks into our candles to ensure a clean burn with minimal soot residue on your walls or in the air. These wicks are entirely free of additives, meaning lead-free, no dyes, plastic glitter, or mica. When you light one of our candles, you're burning nothing but soy wax and fragrance.

Becoming a mother awakened my awareness of the hidden ingredients lurking within our everyday products. It dawned on me how challenging it was to discover high quality candles that could refresh our living spaces with captivating scents without compromising our well-being. Determined to fill this gap, I set out on a mission to craft the perfect candle – one that embodies everything you desire in a candle: non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and, above all, safe for burning in the presence of both children and pets. My goal was to ensure that you could enjoy the purest candle experience without any health concerns. 

From a young age, my curiosity about Japan and its culture has been a constant flame within me. After visiting Japan to immerse myself in its culture and language, my passion and love for the country deepened significantly. As I boarded the plane to return to Canada, I found myself yearning for everything Japan had to offer - the breathtaking landscapes, the delectable cuisine, even the melodic sounds of the crosswalks. This longing inspired me to create candle fragrances that could encapsulate the essence of Japan's diverse locations and delectable dishes.
